Much of the content on these sites is produced by Community Reporters.

Community Reporters are people who have got something to say, and enjoy saying it - real people, with real stories. If you've got access to a computer, you can be a Community Reporter. You can use words, pictures, audio or video - whatever you feel most comfortable with, it doesn't really matter. Likewise it doesn't really matter what you talk or write about (within reason! See our editorial policy) – it doesn't have to be 'news', as such, it can just be something you want people to know about.

If you're already doing something- perhaps you write a blog - you can become a Community Reporter without doing anything more than what you're doing at the moment. If you're based in Manchester, or doing things in Manchester, and have a blog or a website, why not link it up to our site via an RSS feed? You'll get thousands more people reading about the things that matter to you.

Being a Community Reporter means that you'll get access to free training and media equipment, such as video cameras and laptops, which you can then use to produce even more content, in even more imaginative ways! All we ask from you is that you produce something that we can link to on the site.

If you're new to all this stuff, but want to get involved, we can offer you training, starting with the basics of using a computer, to how to make and edit your own films.

For more background information on the programme go to People's Voice Media Community Reporters

If you want to see some of the things our Community Reporters have already produced, visit our multimedia pages or click on one of the feeds coming into our site.

If you're interested in becoming a Community Reporter, please email me at jess@mcin.net, or give me a ring on 0161 230 1430.

If you're not interested in being a Community Reporter but would like to contribute to our community news service by feeding your blog or website to this site through RSS then click on the Contribute to Feeds link above.

131.New fence(Saturday 16th of August 2008 06:34:11 PM 3 months ago )
At last I managed to erect a fence at the entrance to our plot with a nice gate. I got the wood (some fantastic quality fencing panels) from an excellent reclaimed timber suppliers called Trimon Williams Road just off Hide Road next to Bell Vue train station. If you...
132.So where have all the Manchester bloggers gone?(Thursday 14th of August 2008 11:14:56 AM 3 months, 1 week ago )
That’s the question posed by Julie Delvaux over at her Notebooks - Los Cuadernos de Julia blog. A year or two ago there were semi-regular events organised by and for Manchester’s blogging community - but in 2008 not even a quiet pint in a dingy pub (the Castle has...
133.Salford Folding Bike Race(Wednesday 13th of August 2008 09:44:09 PM 3 months, 1 week ago ) It’s been a while since I last wrote about cycling but the Salford Folding Bike Race, which takes place on Saturday 30 August as part of the Salford Nocturne, is well worth a mention.

The competitors, dressed in business attire, will wait 10 metres away from their folded bikes....
134.Les Puddings Noir at the Library Theatre(Tuesday 12th of August 2008 03:28:08 PM 3 months, 1 week ago ) Back to the theatre and this time the Library Theatre plays host to Les Puddings Noir, a ’slice of hilarious social satire’ following MaD Theatre’s 2006 sell-out Asbo and last year’s She’s Just Nipped Out For Fags.

The synopsis sounds entertaining:
In a bid to become Europe’s Capital of...
135.Anime film screenings this summer at Urbis(Monday 11th of August 2008 10:01:13 PM 3 months, 1 week ago ) I paid a visit to Urbis on Friday, mainly to check out the aforementioned Best of Manchester exhibition (the Rags to Bitches and UHC work being the highlights). The place is full of exhibitions at the moment though, from the welcome greenery of Urban Gardening to the ever-so-bright Matthew Williamson...
136.Sun, rain, sun, rain…..(Sunday 10th of August 2008 03:40:40 PM 3 months, 1 week ago ) Aaaaaagh!
Yesterday the weather was depressing. Today it was just plain annoying.
I woke up in great spirits today because the sun was shining and all was dry. A great Sunday for some allotment work. But guess what happened? As soon as I stepped out of the car at Highfield...
137.I can’t stand the British weather!(Saturday 09th of August 2008 01:07:09 PM 3 months, 1 week ago ) Just this moment returned from the allotment. It has been an incredibly miserable morning. Completely throwing it down witth rain the entire time. So I’m very wet and very muddy. I suppose the only consolation is that it is actually quite warm regardless.
The thing that bothers me sooooo much...
138.New GMCC structure(Friday 08th of August 2008 08:33:34 PM 3 months, 1 week ago ) GMCC has a new structure, to improve communication with members and the wider public, and to make sure that each campaign and issue we’re working on has someone monitoring it and pushing it forward.
So as well as the existing elected roles, we’ve introduced faciliators, each one...
139.Best of Manchester Awards - the winners(Friday 08th of August 2008 11:25:47 AM 3 months, 2 weeks ago ) The site’s been getting literally tens of hits from people trying to find out who won at last night’s Best of Manchester Awards ceremony. Here’s what you’re looking for:
Music: Richard Cheetham, High Voltage
Fashion: Simon Buckley, Rags to Bitches
Art: Naomi Kashiwagi, conceptual artist
So I scored precisely 1...
140.Weekender: Helen of Troy and Acid Mothers Temple(Friday 08th of August 2008 10:08:08 AM 3 months, 2 weeks ago ) Mancubist is pretty music-centric at the moment, which I’ll aim to address in the coming weeks, but in the meantime here are a couple more events that I’d recommend this weekend:
Saturday night welcomes this month’s instalment of Helen Of Troy Does Countertop Dancing - or HOTDCD, to shave off...
