The People’s Millions programme is open again for the 4th successful year. Big Lottery Fund is giving community groups in the region the chance to win the public’s support and share Lottery good cause money. Five awards of up to £50,000 will be up for grabs for projects in the North West Region that improve and enrich local communities.

They want to encourage applications from a wide range of organisations that can submit community-based projects. The following organisations are eligible:
* Voluntary and community groups
* Local authorities; schools; statutory health bodies
* Social enterprises

The Big Lottery can fund a wide range of community-based projects (both rural and urban) that aim to achieve one or more of the following:
* Making the local environment cleaner, safer or greener
* Improving the local natural environment
* Improving the design, appearance and accessibility of local amenities
* Providing opportunities or facilities for enjoying the local environment or local amenities.

They are also interested in funding projects that:
* Get people involved in their local community
* Help people who are most in need
* Are original and imaginative.

Organisations have until the 15 May to enter the contest. The finalists will be screened on ITV Granada evening news later in the year when people in the region will be able to cast their vote for the projects they want to win the Lottery good cause cash.
