Subject - Community Champions Fund

Posted : (Monday 20th November 2006 ) By - Jane (Registered User)The Community Champions Fund (CCF) was set up by the DfES to help provide support for people with small-scale ideas for projects to help improve their communities.

Eligibility

The basis for decisions on whether to provide CCF funding for a project adhere to four golden rules:
* The project benefits the community;
* The project provides potential opportunities which the Champion would otherwise have difficulty accessing
* The project is of a scale which can be funded from within the CCF maximum award of £2000; and
* Other sources of funding are not being used and/or would not be more appropriate.

What For?

CCF targets deprived neighbourhoods and socially excluded communities of interest.

The purpose of the fund is to encourage and support individuals to become, or to continue to be, leaders in their communities. These could be geographical communities, but they might also be Communities of interest. (Communities are defined by the common needs and circumstances of people within them, not just their common location).

The main focus of the fund is to help individuals develop ideas and skills that will benefit their communities.

Community Champions are likely to be individuals with a real understanding of their communities, who have a commitment to seeing things through, the support of other members of their communities and are keen to develop their own skills and those of others.

How Much?
Up to £2,000
Total value = £3m per annum
